The Importance of Political Satire

Everyone's seen an example of political satire probably a hundred times over by now. It's most commonly found in news paper politic comic strips or even on certain TV shows and movies. Around an important election it can be found pretty much everywhere you look. Political satire is usually always good for a hearty laugh, but this sort of satire is far more functional and important that it may seem.

Satire is a simple mockery of a situation or ideology, but it is often used to convey a message and get its audience to think for a moment about the reality of said situation. This sort of satire can be very important, because the humor involved can draw an audience that would not necessarily pay any attention to the actual message were it not wrapped in the facade of entertainment. However, once they experience the satire and recognize the deeper meaning and resemblance to real issues they may begin to ponder it with a sudden sense of importance.

Political satire is a tool for getting points across to people who usually tend to not listen, and its a very important one.
