Buckingham Palace is demanding "respectful and lighthearted" coverage of the Royal Wedding. This is bad news for the award-winning Australian comedy group "The Chaser", who had plans for spoofing the big gig with their unique brand of satirical humor.

The Windsors have effectively banned "The Chaser" with a threat from the BBC who was acting on their behalf. The BBC threatened ABC with no access to wedding coverage if they went ahead and aired "The Chaser" wedding spoof episode. So although ABC said they were surprised and disappointed about being threatened at the last minute, and that it was against their editorial policy, they did back down and can the episode. Even Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd commented publicly that he thinks the BBC "needs to lighten up and just get a bit of a sense of humor."

A satire published by Esquire on the removal of Jerome Corsi's book from shelves has sparked a legal lawsuit. The satire in question has been written by Mark Warren, who in very subtle words wrote an article stating that the book had been pulled down from the shelves.
According to Jerome Corsi and WorldNetDaily CEO Joseph Farah the satire has actually interfered with the sale of their book on the internet and Barnes & Noble and other sources. They are suing the corporation and Warren to the tune of $285 million.
The defendants in this case will probably cite to the fact that the public showing of President Obama's birth certificate did more damage to the credibility of the book than the satire. According to conservative estimates the number of believers of the book went down by half after the President showed his birth certificate. The book which debuted at No. 6 has gone down to No. 14 after the disclosure.
Corsi and Farah allege that the satire made them face immense ridicule in their communities where they have a social standing and where people read their works.

Arizona State University students enjoyed a visit and humor satire presentation from two writers at "America's finest news source", aka The Onion. Sam West and Dave Kornfeld set out to explain the inner workings of "serious journalism" at the Tempe campus. West, who writes video content for The Onion, told students that organizations like his exist primarily to make people laugh and to serve as a relief from the horrors of the real world.

To prove their claim at the outset that they are indeed "serious journalists", the two presented bar graphs showing that The Onion captivated an audience of trillions, eclipsing other news sources like The New York Times. There was also a highlight reel of The Onion's best headlines since it's start in 1988 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including gems like "Gay Teen Worried He Might Be Christian", and "Prospective Student Had Most Fun Getting Drunk at Arizona State."
