Bitter Watermelon

Football freaks, hockey nuts, but apparently baseball is "too slow"

Bitter Watermelon

Served Loyally as Syndicate Mascot:
Never. He's not a Mascot at all.

Most fruits are sweet, with their high sugar content and all. Nature's Candy, they're often called. Some fruit can turn bitter though... bitter enough to take action against oppressors that don't exist.

These two innocents set off this ticking time bomb of a melon. It began when Perry and Fresnel became Syndicate mascots on February 28, 2001 (see their story here). This enraged the misguided melon because he felt he was more deserving of the prestigious title of "Spring Mascot." Foolishly, the mascot began protesting loudly and violently outside the Syndicate's headquarters in Colorado. The noise pollution became too much and he got his attention... but not his title. The baseball and the bat earned their spot.

The watermelon got an article in the Syndicate Press outlining his story, which you can read here. That's all though, and now the watermelon is probably being consumed at a picnic somewhere.

Will the Syndicate be able to trust fruit again? Perhaps, in time.
