That's right! For those of you with pirated versions of this very popular first person shooter, Half Life, you need CD Keys. Now you can generate your own!

Your new HL CD Key is:

Go try it right now!

(Please read the terms and conditions on the probability of this CD Key being valid below.)

WARNING:

Chances of finding a CD Key with this system are statistically so small that anyone in their right mind would round the percentage to zero. This device spits out random numbers and doesn't test them online or anything, and it's not supposed to. If you thought this was a legitimate CD Key Generator, sorry to burst your bubble. Read on and realize how much satire this really is.

You can use this page over and over to find as many (invalid) CD Keys for Half Life as you want. Here's a brief statement on how this amazing device works!

We all know that HL CD keys are composed of strings of numbers (0-9) and letters (A-Z). However, we DON'T know how long the key is supposed to be. Let's assume the key is as long or shorter than 25 characters.

Now, we here at the Reality Syndicate have created a random generator using JavaScript. Here's a breakdown of the number of possible CD Keys for the length of the string, assuming the key can be made of numbers 0-9 and letters AZ:

1 character
36 possibilities
  2 characters
1,296 possibilities
  3 characters
46,656 possibilities
  4 characters
1,679,616 possibilities
  5 characters
60,466,176 possibilities
  6 characters
2,176,782,336 possibilities
  7 characters
78,364,164,096 possibilities
  8 characters
2,821,109,907,460 possibilities
  9 characters
101,559,956,668,000 possibilities
  10 characters
3,656,158,440,060,000 possibilities
  11 characters
131 quintillion possibilities
  12 characters
4.74 sextillion possibilities
  13 characters
171 sextillion possibilities
  14 characters
6.14 septillion possibilities
  15 characters
221 septillion possibilities
  16 characters
7.96 octillion possibilities
  17 characters
287 octillion possibilities
  18 characters
10.3 nonillion possibilities
  19 characters
371 nonillion possibilities
  20 characters
13.4 decillion possibilities
  21 characters
481 decillion possibilities
  22 characters
17.3 undecillion possibilities
  23 characters
624 undecillion possibilities
  24 characters
22.5 duodecillion possibilities
  25 characters
808 duodecillion possibilities

Now, since you probably don't know the exact length of what a CD Key is supposed to be, lets go ahead and add all of these numbers up, since you'll have to try all lengths, probably.

Our total is: 831.375 duodecillion, or:
831,375,028,249,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possibilities.

Hypothetically, if you decided to try all of these possibilities, and you were able to attempt one every second, non stop, until you were finished, it would take you 26,362,728,310,500,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 26.3 nonillion years.

Scientists now believe the Earth to be about 4 billion years old, and the universe itself about 20 billion years old. If the universe is actually 20 billion years old and it were to end and begin again right now, and each new universe lasting for 20 billion years, it would take you 13,118,136,415,530,000,000,000 or 13 sextillion universes to finish.

Better put on a pot of coffee!

Enjoy attempting to play pirated Half Life.
