New
Merit Badges for the Fall Season

The
Boy Scouts of America is an organization humming with activity. A great
deal of that activity is devoted to earning Merit Badges, of which the
organization has over 120.
But
are all bases being covered? Are the merit badges currently available
representing all facets of life? Harold J. McHenry, Scouting spokesperson
for the Northern Alaskan region, says no. Here's what he had to say in
a ground breaking interview we had a few days ago:
 |
I'm
glad you decided to go through with this interview Mr. McHenry. |
 |
I
just want my voice to be heard, brother! |
 |
<ahem>
That was strange... Well anyway, you say there aren't enough merit
badges that cover more unorthodox topics? |
 |
Yes
indeed. I have boys in my troop that would love to see some recognition,
in badge form, for their achievements in bomb construction. As there
is no Bomb Constructing Merit Badge, I just gave them all a
Traffic Safety Merit Badge. It's practically the same thing,
but not close enough! |
 |
Hmm...
Interesting way f handling that situation... |
 |
I've
already sent requests to the national office for some new merit badges
and gave them some topics that I'd prefer be covered. |
 |
Any
response as of yet? |
 |
"As
of yet?" Do those three words work together that way? |
 |
Yup. |
 |
Wow! |
The interview
just deteriorated from there. However, in short, Mr. McHenry's wish was
answered with a slew of new merit badges for Boy Scouts the world over
to enjoy. Here are some that we will be covering in the Syndicate Press,
complete with requirements and updates of completions:
